Biathlon

On Saturday 13th December a number of children from the school participated in a biathlon competition. They ran 800metres on the track at Sligo IT and later in the day swam 2 lengths of the pool at the sports complex. In between events they had the opportunity to try fencing and laser shooting. Snowmen

Snowmen During art we made clay snowmen. We waited a week for the clay to dry then painted them and added eyes, noses, mouths and buttons. Some of us then added a scarf.   This is a video of what our snowmen looked like when they were finished:


2nd Class and J.I working together on the Safe Cross Code

Our novel The Hodgeheg is about a hedgehog called Max who is trying to find a safe way for hedgehogs to cross the road. Second Class and Van Gogh

We read about Vincent Van Gogh, looked at some of his paintings and wrote about him independently. During art we painted our own versions of The Starry Night. First of all we used sponges  and watery paint for the background when that had dried we painted on the stars, moon, tree and buildings.


Wind Socks

We made wind socks and took them to various areas around the school to check the wind direction and wind strength. On the yard the socks didn’t move much because we were sheltered by the school building. They moved more out on the astro turf and pitch as we were out in the open. Halloween

Second class wrote revolting recipes and made ghosts and pumpkins in the lead up to Halloween. On Friday 24th October all sorts of scary people spent a day in second class.


Sligo Schools Cross Country

Well done to all the children who participated in the Sligo Schools Cross Country competition on Saturday 11 October. It was the first time the school had entered the competition and all of the children ran very well. Second Class at Dublin Zoo

Second class had a great time on their visit to Dublin Zoo. The children had their photograph taken with a giant strawberry and brought home strawberries and a t-shirt as part of their prize. We wandered round the zoo looking at all the different animals, had a lovely lunch in the Meerkat Restaurant and then completed our tour of the zoo. In class we
