Active School Week – Irish Dancing
1st and 3rd class had a great time with Siobhan learning some steps or showing of their dancing ability.

A number of older classes attempted to run a combined marathon with each pupil attempting to run at least 1k. The younger children ran/walked a shorter distance.
Classes from 1st to 5th had the opportunity to learn some cricket skills with Ingram Jones from Sligo Sport and Recreation. For many it was their first time to try cricket.
All the classes were paired up to learn a dance with Aoibhín Buckley and enjoyed showing off their dance moves.
Junior and Senior Infants worked on their soccer skills with Jim Sheridan, second class worked with Benny O’Loughlin and third class with Paul Keavney. All the classes had a great time.
The children in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th looked at the basic technique of chi running in the hall and then put it into practice on the astro turf.
The children from second, sixth and fifth enjoyed hockey coaching with Caroline and Eilis.
First Class had a great time working on their athletic skills with Deirdre Cullinan.

After reading The Hodgeheg a story about a hedgehog trying to find a safe place to cross the road we looked at different ways of crossing the road including the Safe Cross Code.
