There is usually great excitement in September about the SuperValu Athletics Fest organised by Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership. This year it was slightly different as it was a stay local event. Each 100m relay team was timed by the coach as was each individual 200m runner. Instead of passing the baton it was dropped into a bucket and the next runner picked up a different one from the ground. It was also over a course of 25m instead of the 400m track. We entered 9 teams; 2 senior girls, 2 senior boys, 2 senior mixed teams, 1 junior girls, 1 junior boys and 1 junior mixed team as well as 2 individual 200m runners. It was very enjoyable and the children were delighted to be able to take part.
