3rd Class Safe Cross Code @Assembly

This month the wonderful pupils of 3rd class performed the Safe Cross Code song and dance at school assembly. Through a presentation they also told all the children the importance of the Safe Cross Code. Well done 3rd class!


Storm Ophelia

Ex-Hurricane ‘Storm Ophelia’ hit our shores last week. You could not listen to the radio, open a newspaper or watch tv without hearing about this famous storm. The red alert meant that the Department of Education decided to close all schools for two days. This made the children (and teachers) of Ireland very happy! Thankfully Sligo was not hit too badly and everyone listened

The Organic Garden

Before the summer many classes throughout the school worked in our organic garden with Seamus and Mrs.O’Rourke. The children learned a lot from this experience as they saw the development of the vegetables from seed to full size. Then in September they got to bring home a selection of the vegetables to eat.


3rd class Kandinsky art

Here are examples of the wonderful art 3rd class did lately. They were inspired by Kandinsky, while they listened to classical music by Richard Wagner (Kandinsky’s inspiration). Great work, 3rd class!


3rd Class Setting a Great Example

Well done to 3rd class who have won the ‘best class’ points system (senior yard) three weeks in a row! They have shown truly kind and excellent behaviour in the yard and in the line. Well done children!


First 20 days in First Class!

The children in First Class have been very busy since returning to school. We have introduced ourselves to our two new students Joe and Rhys and we have been learning about them. We shared stories about our families, our favourite things and what we did over the summer holidays. We learned all about how leaves lose their colours and fall in Autumn and learned

Buddies

On Friday our ‘buddies’ from 6th class came to work with us for the first time. We practised our colouring, cutting and sticking skills.


Junior Infants working hard.

Some colouring, cutting and sticking work based on the story Peace At Last. We worked really well, didn’t need much help and didn’t get too much glue on the tables! Miss Wetherald was very happy with our work.


Junior Infants visit the library

On Wednesday we visited the school library and enjoyed looking at a selection of books. We will soon be able to borrow books to read at home.


Room on the Broom

Junior and Senior Infants went to the Hawks Well Theatre on Mon March 27th to see Room on the Broom. Afterwards they went to Kevinsfort playground for lunch and play time! The children loved Room on the Broom and were very lucky to get such a nice sunny day at the park!
