GAA mini sevens

Well done to  Zoe Gordon, Orna Murphy, Lisa Kilfeather, Nessa O’Sullivan, Eva White, Áine Harte, Lauren Healy, Susannah Gilligan and Anna McDaniel who represented the school in the mini sevens finals in Collooney on Thursday 12th April. Unfortunately they lost out to Rathcormac in the semi-final.


The Dentist

Today we had a visit from Eimear Cleary in connection with our Aistear topic – The Dentist. We looked at how different drinks affect our teeth and how to clean our teeth properly. We learned that some foods are bad for our teeth if we eat them too often and that we should brush our teeth twice a day. We counted out the amount

GAA

Congratulations to the children that participated in the GAAmigos skills competition last Friday.   Congratulations also to the girls and Ruth who won their two matches today and are through to the mini sevens semi final.   


Spring Flowers

We made spring flowers in Junior Infants. We drew round shapes, cut them out and glued them. .


Feeling Faces

We made ‘feeling faces’ with our buddies from 6th class. We decided what type of emotion we wanted to show and why our person felt like that. Our buddies helped us choose and  cut the different materials we used.


The Opticians in Junior Infants

Our current Aistear topic is the opticians. We’ve made appointments, tested our eye sight, chosen glasses and cases and then paid for everything. We have also been very busy making play dough glasses and various items in junk art.


The Enormous Crocodile

This week we read The Enormous Crocodile by Roald Dahl. On Friday afternoon we made stretchy crocodiles with our buddies from 6th Class.


Maths Games in Junior Infants

We played different maths games recently to practice turn taking, counting, matching, memorising, comparing and winning and losing graciously.


Snowmen by Junior Infants

We painted snowmen. We put on eyes, a nose, a mouth and buttons, then we chose a colour for a scarf. Some of us put a hat and arms on our snowmen.


Other Countries by Second Class

We studied different countries. We learned all about India and the Taj Mahal. We dressed up in Indian costumes and did projects on Indian culture. We also learned about other famous world landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, Big Ben and the Great Wall of China. Here we are in costumes and working on our projects.
