We’ve been very busy in Junior Infants preparing for Christmas. We have a crib and an Advent sack. We have angels flying across the classroom, Christmas photos, Christmas trees and glittery baubles and stockings. Our Aistear theme is Santa land we’ve wrapped presents, decorated the sleigh, dressed up as Santa, loaded the sleigh and checked and made a lot of lists.

On Friday we practised our throwing, catching and rolling skills with our buddies in 6th class.
Last week we painted trains then our buddies helped us to stick on different shapes for the wheels, funnels and engines.
Today we went outside to find examples of different shapes. We found lots of rectangles, squares, circles and semi-circles but not many triangles. There were lots of large shapes on the basketball court that we could all stand on and walk around.
During art we painted a pumpkin outline then cut out and stuck on eyes, a nose, a mouth and teeth. We used different shapes for the face parts – triangles, circles, squares, semi- circles and rectangles.
On Friday 27th October we dressed up for Halloween. We had lost of interesting costumes but still managed to do our daily run dressed up! We also danced along to the Skeleton Dance.
On Thursday 26th October a number of children from 3rd to 6th class took part in a Try-a-Tri event an initiative run by Triathlon Ireland and Sligo Sports and Recreation at Sligo Sports Complex and Cleveragh Regional Park. The event consisted of a 50m swim, a 1,500m cycle and a run of 800m with all the children enjoying the challenge.
