Chinese New Year

It was Chinese New Year on the 19th of February this year. 1st Class received a very interesting package  from a former classmate of theirs- Cillian. Cillian now lives in Singapore. 6th Class helping 1st Class

Some weeks back 1st class made beautiful snowflakes with the help of 6th Class. They created  these using just paper, scissors and sellotape. 6th Class helped them cut, fold and stick in the correct places for the first few sections, and by the end of the lesson, 1st Class were able to do it on their own! Snow!

Looking out the window at the beautiful winter scene all day, we just couldn’t resist stepping out into the snow. Here are some pictures of the fun we had.


Christmas Art

1st Class have been very busy making beautiful art pieces for the Christmas season. They created a winter scene using crepe paper and paint, Santa and his reindeer flying over a moonlit sky using paint, and they also made some clay ornaments for their Christmas tree. Trapped in a Snow Globe- 1st Class

A magic spell was put on 1st class this week as all of the children became trapped in snow globes. Luckily they all got out safely but some of the snow did manage to come out with them and is all around our roads to see. They used their experience to write some very interesting stories about their time in the snow globe.


Schools in the Past 1st Class

1st Class have been doing some very interesting research into what school was like long ago. They examined some very old items that teacher brought into school, some over 100 years old! These included: Irish books, Maths books, test copies, Religion copies, Sewing copies and even a very old schoolbag! The children were shocked at how small the books were and even how small

Autumn in 1st Class

Autumn has made its way to 1st class these last few weeks. We made some beautiful Autumn Trees using cotton buds showing all the Autumnal colours.
