Mad Hair Day Third Class

  Our class had great fun on Mad Hair Day and it was great to see so much effort put into the hairstyles. The school raised money on the day for the Sligo Cancer Support Centre.  


Third Class Water Projects

The children worked in small groups on their projects. They carried out their research at home and in school and presented them to the class on May 13th. The topics covered were: The Great Barrier Reef, Rivers and lakes of Ireland, Rivers and lakes of the World, Sea Life, Oceans and Seas of the World, The Water Cycle and Sea Plants and Animals. The

Sea Life Shoe boxes

Third Class were learning about sea life in SESE in May and as part of this we integrated our Art lessons into this topic. Each child designed and planned what they would do to their shoe box. They were very creative and produced amazing under water displays.


Pen Licence

Third Class have focused all year on improving their handwriting and especially their cursive writing. The children were delighted to receive their own pen licence certificates this week. This means they can now use pens aswell as pencils in school. Well done!


Butterflies – Third Class

The children created pretty artwork last week using paper, card and paint. They all had fun creating unique and colourful butterflies.


Electricity-3rd Class

Third Class were learning about electricity over the last few weeks in Science. We spoke about renewable sources of energy, safety in relation to electricity, batteries, conductors and insulators. The children then carried out a number of experiments. They made circuits and investigated what materials in the classroom were good insulators and conductors of electricity. They also investigated how static electricity works.


Construction in 3rd Class

The children worked in pairs over three weeks to construct items from cardboard boxes. They used boxes of various shapes and sizes. They first planned what they would make. They then cut out their design and decorated them with materials such as paint and felt. The children had a great time taking part in these lessons and I was very impressed with their creativity.

Third Class History Projects

  The children in Third class carried out project work based on Christopher Columbus. They worked in pairs or in groups. They were very creative and worked hard on their Art projects. The children used a variety of materials such as wood, clay, lego and card. They then presented their projects to the class. I was very impressed with the effort they put into

Christopher Columbus- Third Class

As a class we created a display based on Christopher Columbus’s journey to America. We are very happy with the way it turned out.    


Hallowe’en in Third Class

We had great fun in our class for Hallowe’en. Everyone dressed up and had fun walking on the catwalk.
