Dear Parents,

Welcome back to everyone and we look forward to a new school term! The following are some notices for your attention.

Sympathy

We extend our sympathy to Mrs. Majella O Donoghue, Learning Support teacher in our school, on the death of her beloved Dad. May he rest in peace.

Congratulations

We extend our congratulations to Mr. Mc Groary and his wife Aoife, on the birth of their little son Conor.

Parent-Teacher Meetings

Appointments will be sent home shortly for these meetings which are being held on Tuesday, 21st and Wed 29th Jan. Unless you have specified in writing to Mrs. Hampson a particular day that suits you, please accept the appointment time that is sent to you, as it is a very onerous task to co-ordinate these meetings!

Swimming

Swimming continues for 4th and 5th class this term.

Voluntary Contribution

Any families who have not yet paid and are in a position to do so, please send to school as soon as possible. To date 26% of families have paid.

Debating Competition

Our debating team from 5th class have reached the county final, which is a wonderful achievement. This is our first time to enter the competition and we are delighted to have reached this stage. 6 children from 5th class have been working very hard preparing for this debate entitled “Ipads should replace all school books”. We are supporting the motion. The debate will take place next Friday, 17th Jan at 11.30 in the Model Niland Gallery and we are bringing 3rd to 6th classes along to support our school team. Children from 3rd to 6th will need to bring €2.50 to cover the bus costs. We warmly invite any parents who would like to come along and in particular the parents of the children on the team. We wish them the best of luck and congratulate them and Mrs. O Rourke on getting this far. There will also be a Connaught Final and a National Final after this round.

February Mid-Term

School will close on Friday 14th Feb at 3pm and re-open Monday, 24th Feb at 9.20 am.

Clothes Collection

We are holding a clothes collection on Monday, 27th Jan. The clothes are collected early so please have them at school in the morning.

“Do This In Memory”

The next Mass will be held on Sunday, 26th Jan. We appreciate if you can let your child know if they will be available to sing in the choir on this day.

Communion and Confirmation

Reminders of the Communion and Confirmation dates. First Holy Communion, Sat 14th May at 11am. Confirmation, Thursday 29th May at 11am.

With every good wish,

Siobhán Clarke
