We had a Wimbledon style afternoon of fun on June 25th. We played tennis and enjoyed ice-cream and strawberries. Nixie- “I thought it was really cool as we got to experience what Wimbledon is like”. Ronan -“I liked having ice-cream and I got lots of energy out of it for the tennis”.
We were very busy during active week. We tried lots of different activities including yoga, orienteering, space hoppers, scooters and the parachute. We also went for walks/runs with fourth class and fifth class.
Congratulations to Anna McDaniel who won the final of the kicking competition in Collooney on Wednesday. She was the outright winner after missing only one of her kicks.
Well done to all the children who took part in the amigos Gaelic skills challenge. The girls team consisted of Anna, Ellen, Lauren and Susannah and Hubert, Jack and Stefan represented the boys. Well done to all the children who represented the school in the Sligo County Primary Schools Cross Country in the I.T. on Saturday morning. The junior teams ran 1kilometre and the senior teams 1k200m. On Thursday we went for a walk on the track around the Gaelic pitch with our Buddies in 6th class and the children from the Glen. We had a great time chatting to our buddies as we walked and had to find out their name and favourite colour. We wore our high vis vests.
On Wednesday we had our first Gaelic football coaching session.
On the astro we used the space hoppers and the scooters.
On Sports Day we had two bouncy castles.
