Over the last couple of weeks the children in Second class were working very hard on their versions of the Christmas story. Once they were completed they went down to Junior Infants to read the stories to them. Second Class remembered to ask questions while they were reading and everyone enjoyed themselves.
During Circle Time we discussed what makes each of us special. We talked about how we all look different and unique. During Art we then used torn coloured paper, crayons and googly eyes to create self-portraits.

A month ago the Junior Infant class got 5 new pets. They were teeny tiny caterpillars. Over the last month we have been able to watch them grow and change. For the month of February we have had a cafe in the dramatic play area of the classroom. After reading Apples by Gale Gibson we created a lovely apple art project. In this project the children used a lot of techniques: tracing, painting, cutting and pasting. While painting with red and yellow we discussed how mixing these colours created the colour orange. The children then added value to the work by gluing hessian down for their apples to sit on.
