Story time with 2nd and Junior Infants

Over the last couple of weeks the children in Second class were working very hard on their versions of the Christmas story. Once they were completed they went down to Junior Infants to read the stories to them. Second Class remembered to ask questions while they were reading and everyone enjoyed themselves.

Junior Infant Self-portraits

During Circle Time we discussed what makes each of us special.  We talked about how we all look different and unique.  During Art we then used torn coloured paper, crayons and googly eyes to create self-portraits.

Authors in Second Class

Authors in Second Class The children have been busy writing stories based on a cat stuck up a tree.  After editing their stories they each made a book with a front cover that included the title, author and illustrator and a back cover that showed the publisher, back page blurb, other books by these famous authors and a price. Butterflies in the Classroom

Apple Art Work

In this project the children used a lot of techniques: tracing, painting, cutting and pasting. While painting with red and yellow we discussed how mixing these colours created the colour orange. The children then added value to the work by gluing hessian  down for their apples to sit on.  It is amazing

Our novel The Hodgeheg is about a hedgehog called Max who is trying to find a safe way for hedgehogs to cross the road. As part of our novel work we are looking at the Safe Cross Code and different ways of crossing the road safely. We made mini books about the Safe Cross Code and read them to the junior infants. We made sure to

They have settled into the school routine very quickly and are learning so much!!  We have already learned the first two groups of the Jolly Phonics Programme and have begun the 3rd. Here are some of the songs from the Jolly Phonics programme so that you
