Junior Infants Visit the Soft Play Area

On Friday we enjoyed playing in the soft play area. We also played with some of the toys we will be using with the friendship squad when we are staying for the full day.


Junior Infants – First Two Days

We’ve settled into Junior Infants very well and have had a busy few days – playing, touring the school, painting, listening to stories, working and learning some of the routines of ‘big school’.


Room on the Broom

Junior and Senior Infants went to the Hawks Well Theatre on Mon March 27th to see Room on the Broom. Afterwards they went to Kevinsfort playground for lunch and play time! The children loved Room on the Broom and were very lucky to get such a nice sunny day at the park!


Junior Infants Inuit Style

For the last 4 weeks the Junior Infants have been learning all about the Arctic. They have learned about the animals and the people that live there.  We turned our dramatic play area into an igloo with an ice fishing whole and a sled with husky dogs to pull it along!! Nature Walk and Autumn Art

The children have been learning all about the signs we see of Autumn and Hedgehogs. We went on a nature walk around the school the other day and the children saw leaves changing colour, berries and beechnut seeds that had fallen from the trees. Their Autumn art has created a beautiful display over our nature table in the classroom.


Active School Week – fun and movement

Mickey Downs put all the classes through their paces, junior infants to 2nd enjoyed a variety of activities and 3rd to 6th tried circuit training.


Active School Week – Dance

All the classes were paired up to learn a dance with Aoibhín Buckley and enjoyed showing off their dance moves.


Active School Week – Soccer

Junior and Senior Infants worked on their soccer skills with Jim Sheridan, second class worked with Benny O’Loughlin and third class with Paul Keavney. All the classes had a great time.


Safe Cross Code

After reading The Hodgeheg a story about a hedgehog trying to find a safe place to cross the road we looked at different ways of crossing the road including the Safe Cross Code. We then made Safe Cross Code books which we read to Junior Infants. On the astro turf we made some roads using cones and practiced crossing the road with them to

Pet Shop Opened!

We have opened our pet shop in Junior Infants and the children are having a wonderful time shopping for their pets! We have also made pet snakes from socks and gluing on patterns using coloued felt.
