Some strange new characters in Senior Infants!

Senior Infants are learning about autumn and harvest time. In art, we made these scarecrows to scare away birds from the crops!  We gave our scarecrows names and had great fun making them.  We learned a song called Dingle Dangle Scarecrow. Here is a link to our song and some photos of us!


Junior Infant Self-portraits

During Circle Time we discussed what makes each of us special.  We talked about how we all look different and unique.  During Art we then used torn coloured paper, crayons and googly eyes to create self-portraits.


Bird Nests

Senior Infants made bird nests, we painted the nest brown and cut out circles for the fledglings. We think they are great


6th Class helping 1st Class

Some weeks back 1st class made beautiful snowflakes with the help of 6th Class. They created  these using just paper, scissors and sellotape. 6th Class helped them cut, fold and stick in the correct places for the first few sections, and by the end of the lesson, 1st Class were able to do it on their own! Snails and their Trails

In art we drew snails and decorated their shells. We stuck them up and added shiny trails.


Snowmen

Snowmen During art we made clay snowmen. We waited a week for the clay to dry then painted them and added eyes, noses, mouths and buttons. Some of us then added a scarf.   This is a video of what our snowmen looked like when they were finished:


Christmas Art

1st Class have been very busy making beautiful art pieces for the Christmas season. They created a winter scene using crepe paper and paint, Santa and his reindeer flying over a moonlit sky using paint, and they also made some clay ornaments for their Christmas tree. Green School Competition

The green school committee organised a competition in November where children had to come up with a slogan to promote biodiversity.  The entries were to be in by the 12th of December.  We received a great response and we got many great slogans and also great artwork. It was very difficult to pick a winner but the winners were Junior/senior infants: Finn McD 1st/2nd:

Sixth Class Christmas Village

Sixth class constructed a model Christmas village as our Art lesson over the last few weeks. First we constructed different shaped buildings from cardboard, paying particular attention to features like windows, doors, roofs and chimneys. Next we covered our structures with papier-mâché. When the papier-mâché dried, we designed shop-fronts for our buildings and painted them accordingly. Finally we added festive effects such as snow
