Slurry

Slurry is livestock’s dung. The slurry goes  into the slurry pit under the slatted shed or if you don’t have slatted sheds you have to scrape out all of the dung into the open slurry pit. The reason we keep the slurry is so we can spread it in the field  to make the grass grow longer for the silage season.

Famine Graveyard

Before Hallowe’en, we went on a trip to a Famine Graveyard after swimming. We went there because we are reading the novel “Under the Hawthorn Tree” in class. WEEE Ireland Assembly

Today, a man called Niall Lydon from Galway, came to the school to talk to us about recycling. He talked to us about not throwing electrical items away. We learned from him that we can recycle most things in the world like kettles, Xboxes, PS3s, washing machines etc. His rule was that anything that can be plugged in or has batteries can be recycled.

Hallowe’en Carols

On Thursday October 25th, 6th class recorded some Hallowe’en Carols. These are Christmas Carols with Hallowe’eny lyrics. We recorded our three best songs. We used an app on the iPad called Hokusai to record the songs. Then we exported the file to Dropbox and imported it into Audacity where we converted it into an .MP3 file. Active Flag Committee

This year we are going for our second Active Flag. We have a new Active Flag Committee composed of eight 5th class children. Hurling Video

On Wednesdays 6th class do hurling. The coaches name is Benny. During the lesson we do drills and short games. Many of us have learned lots of new skills. It is great fun and we all enjoy it  and are always looking forward to Wednesday. Here is a stop motion video  our teacher made using an ipad.


Hospice Coffee Afternoon

On Thursday 20th of September we had a coffee morning. Each class got a biscuit and a cup of orange juice. The parents came in from 2 O’clock to 3. We raised about 700 euro.
