Christmas Cup Tree

christmas_cup_treeThe pupils and staff in The Glen have spent the last couple of weeks creating a special Christmas Tree. The tree is made from plastic cups which are glued to circles of corrugated plastic.

All of the cups were first covered in different shades of green, using tissue paper and crepe paper. We cut out different sizes of circles of corrugated plastic and glued the cups to these circles. We then glued the tree together in three sections. We also fixed the bottom layer to a tree log.

We added glitter to the edges of the circles, we added some colourful decorations to the tree and we made an angel for the top of the tree.

The tree will be part of the Festival of Christmas Trees in St. John’s Cathedral, Sligo taking place this weekend. The Festival is open to the public on Friday 1st Dec 11 a.m. – 9 p.m., Sat 2nd – 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. and Sunday 3rd 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. The Festival closes with Advent and Christmas Songs of Praise on Sunday at 7.30 p.m.
