Christmas in Senior Infants

We have been enjoying the festive season in Senior Infants as of late. In art we made Rudolf Christmas cards, Cracker place names and we also threaded Christmas trees.

We have been busy rehearsing our song ‘Knock, Knock, Knock at the door’ for the Carol service and we have also learned ‘Bualadh bos’ (Jingle bells as Gaeilge)

Aistear- Santa’s Workshop is proving a big hit this week! Here we wrap presents, make  cards, write and stamp envelopes, take phone messages from Santa, write lists and if we get tired doing all this we can relax on a beanbag and browse through toy catalogues!  Afterwards, during circle time we all love guessing what 3D shape the wrapped presents are.

While the group of 6 elves are working hard doing all of this, the rest of us keep busy with play-dough, sand-play, construction, ‘small world’, puzzles and recently we tried out ‘Glupe’. This is a mixture of cornflour, water and paint. We even added glitter some days! Although it was very messy for poor teacher it was so much fun and we actually found it very relaxing. It has a consistency that feels both wet and dry at the same time.

So that is what has been happening in Senior Infants in the last couple of weeks. We are looking forward to the holidays now. Have a wonderful Christmas!
