Our Aistear theme for the past few weeks has been a hospital.
Junior and Senior Infants had a visit from a doctor! Dr. Mary Breslin works as a doctor and surgeon in Sligo General Hospital. She came to talk to us about the work she does in the hospital.
Dr. Mary brought our class bear, Toby, into the hospital as he had a sore throat. Toby had to go for surgery on his tonsils. Dr. Mary showed us the whole process on a power point, where she had taken photos of Toby while he was in hospital! Toby is all better now and his throat isn’t sore anymore….Thank you Dr. Mary!!
We asked Dr. Mary questions about her job and what she had to do to become a doctor. Dr. Mary brought us in some hats and face masks which we have used to dress up as patients and as the doctor in our hospital.
We learned a lot from Dr. Mary and we used this in our role play. We had a great time and would like to thank Dr. Mary most sincerely for taking time out of her busy schedule to come in and talk to us.
