2nd/3rd class novel reviews – The Sheep Pig

In 2^nd/3^rd class we have been reading novels. A group of us have read ‘The Sheep-Pig’, by Dick King-Smith. This is the book on which the film ‘Babe’ was based.

Anna and Jacob describe the plot of the novel:

Farmer Hogget wins Babe a pig at the fair. A sheep-dog called  Fly becomes Babe’s foster mother. Babe meets Ma, a ewe. Babe wants to be a sheep-pig. The rustlers come to try and steal the sheep but Babe fights them off . Fly tells Babe about the sheep-dog trials. The worriers come and kill Ma. Babe tries to save her but he is too late. Farmer Hogget nearly kills Babe, because he thinks Babe killed Ma, but he is mistaken. Farmer Hogget decides to enter Babe into the trials. Babe’s training begins. Babe wins the trials and gets the best score possible.
