Dear Parents,

I hope this letter finds you all well. This note contains some important update and points of information.

Mrs. Lee Retirement

Mrs. Lee is taking early retirement from her teaching post at Ransboro National School.  Mrs. Lee has taught many pupils in Ransboro National School over the years and has been a most dedicated, committed and caring member of our staff and school community. We are holding a special Mass in celebration and thanksgiving for Mrs. Lee and all she has brought to our school. This Mass will take place on Friday, 1st March at 12pm in the church with a tea and coffee reception afterwards in the school hall. All parents and/or grandparents are welcome. Any parents available to help at the reception in the hall will be most welcome, please send in a note to let us know that you are available to help or give Mrs. Hampson a call. Also it would be most appreciated if any parents  are able to bake or send in any small treats for the occasion.

If any parents wish to send in a donation to the school towards a presentation/gift to Mrs. Lee from the parent body in the school, please do so in an envelope to school with your child. We hope to make this Mass uplifting and a true celebration of a long and fulfilling teaching career.

Gaelic Football Mini-League

Mr. Mc Groary has arranged a Gaelic football mini-league, beginning this week. This is an in-school Gaelic football competition to be played at lunchtimes over the next 3-4 weeks. 48 children from 4th, 5th and 6th classes are competing. These have been divided into 6 teams of 8 players. Each team will play two games initially, with the top few teams progressing to the semi-finals. It is hoped to play 2 games each week over the next few weeks. The children will know in advance which days they are playing and should bring appropriate gear (change of footwear at least).

More details of the competition will be on the school blog which will be updated with results and tables after each game. Many thanks to Mr. Mc Groary for organising this league which is creating great excitement here in school!

Irish Play in Hawk’s Well

As part of Seachtain  na Gaeilge, we are taking all classes from Senior Infants to 6th class to a drama production in the Hawk’s Well Theatre on Monday, March 4th. Mr. Quinn is directing this production involving children from several primary schools in town. It will involve irish drama, poetry and music. The cost is €8 per child inclusive of the bus, you can send to school with your child in an envelope marked with their name.

Do This In Memory

The next “Do This In Memory” Mass will be held this Sunday, 24th at 11am in Ransboro Church. As usual, I appeal to as many children as possible from the choir to attend and sing.

Thank You,

Siobhán Clarke
