Facilities

The curriculum taught in primary schools is firmly based on holistic principles where all aspects of the development of the child are taken into consideration. The facilities on offer in our school ensure that we strive to meet those holistic principles. Pupils in our school have access to the school hall for sports, PE, choir, musicals, drama, assemblies and school events.

Adjacent to the school hall we have a kitchen where pupils occasionally have the opportunity to cook and bake simple recipes – this is sometimes supported by parents. We have a beautiful welcoming Brian Gilligan Memorial Library which encourages pupils to develop a love of reading. This library was redeveloped as part of our new building project in 2016.

The astro-turf all-weather pitch at the side of the school is a great addition to the facilities on offer at the school. The pupils use this for recreation during break times and also for PE, Gaelic football, hurling and other sports training.

The school has a great sense of space and according to the age group of the pupils, they play on different areas of the school yard during break times, where the Friendship Squad ensures that pupils enjoy their recreation time.

Adjacent to the yard at the rear of the school is a newly constructed soft-play area. At present, there is a climbing frame in this area and we plan to provide more equipment in this space in the future as school finances allow.
