Snow!

Looking out the window at the beautiful winter scene all day, we just couldn’t resist stepping out into the snow. Here are some pictures of the fun we had.


Snowmen

Snowmen During art we made clay snowmen. We waited a week for the clay to dry then painted them and added eyes, noses, mouths and buttons. Some of us then added a scarf.   This is a video of what our snowmen looked like when they were finished:


Christmas Art

1st Class have been very busy making beautiful art pieces for the Christmas season. They created a winter scene using crepe paper and paint, Santa and his reindeer flying over a moonlit sky using paint, and they also made some clay ornaments for their Christmas tree. Trapped in a Snow Globe- 1st Class

A magic spell was put on 1st class this week as all of the children became trapped in snow globes. Luckily they all got out safely but some of the snow did manage to come out with them and is all around our roads to see. They used their experience to write some very interesting stories about their time in the snow globe.


Vikings -3rd Class

Third class have been learning about Vikings for the last couple of weeks and have shown a great interest in the topic. They wrote wonderful stories and created character profiles based on Vikings.   They were also given the task of creating something at home, individually or in pairs, based on Vikings. Schools in the Past 1st Class

1st Class have been doing some very interesting research into what school was like long ago. They examined some very old items that teacher brought into school, some over 100 years old! These included: Irish books, Maths books, test copies, Religion copies, Sewing copies and even a very old schoolbag! The children were shocked at how small the books were and even how small

Halloween

Second class wrote revolting recipes and made ghosts and pumpkins in the lead up to Halloween. On Friday 24th October all sorts of scary people spent a day in second class.


Hallowe’en Fancy Dress

Sixth class enjoyed dressing up for Hallowe’en in a variety of weird and wonderful outfits. We had a scarecrow, a box-troll, a demon kick-boxer, two Hermione Graingers, Harry Potter, two Special Agents, a vampire granny, a pirate and a Jamaican!


Halloween in 3rd Class

We had lots of fun this week in school preparing for Halloween. We looked at a powerpoint about the origins of Halloween, read a Halloween story in Irish, wrote our own spooky stories and even  wrote funny Halloween tongue twisters. In Art we made Halloween bunting to decorate the classroom and painted Halloween pictures. On Friday October 24th we all wore costumes and walked down a pretend
