Our Japan Podcast

We have been studying Japan over the past couple of weeks. We got the school laptops and researched different topics about Japan. We enjoyed doing this work. Today we created a podcast based on the information that we found out about Japan. We used the Audacity software to record the podcast. Then we converted it into an MP3 and posted it on our SoundCloud

QR Codes and Primary Planet

A few days ago we did a quiz using QR Codes on the Primary Planet magazine. We got an iPod each and opened the iNigma app which is a free QR Code Reader. We were handed a page with the QR Codes on it. Beside each QR Code was a blank space to write the answers. We had to answer ten questions in all.

Podcasting in Rang VI

This year in Rang VI we decided to do some Podcasting. We started by making a Word of the Day Podcast. We posted on a platform called SoundCloud. Three pupils per day participate in creating the podcast – two presenters and a sound engineer. We use Audacity to record the podcast. Ipods and a QR Hunt!

A few weeks ago we had a QR hunt around our school.  We used an app called Inigma on the Ipods to reveal a question about people who help us.  There were twelve questions in total. We worked in pairs, it was great fun :)!


First Class – Laptops and Ipods

The children have been learning how to use the keyboard on the laptop and the QWERTY typing system. They are learning how to navigate MS Word.


First Class Maths Trail

Last week First Class did a maths trail using Ipods and QR codes! We had great fun!


Horses Video

Our Literacy Group in The Glen were learning about Horses and we read a story about them. In the story we learned some new vocabulary about horses. We decided to write our own story about horses, but instead of writing the story down, we decided to make a movie of our story. Everyone in the group contributed to the story and we edited it

Blue Star programme

During the past months 5th and 6th class have been working on the Blue Star Programme. 6th class studied the institutions of the European Union, the role of the European Parliament and the European Commission and presented their findings on EU day at assembly. Ransboro gets Biodiversity Green Flag.

On the 19th of May, Anna, Cormac, SNA Mrs.Nearn and Mrs. O’Rourke, representing our  Green School Committee, went to Claremorris to receive the Biodiversity Green Flag . The Green School Committee have been working so hard over the past few years to earn this flag. Visit to the seashore in Strandhill

On Wednesday 20th of May, 5th class and the green school committee had a biodiversity day out. Olivia from An Taisce and The Clean Coast programme visited our class. She talked about marine life, dunes, how we can impact our coastal areas in a good way and a bad way. She displayed a variety of shells, seaweed and fossils. We then went to Strandhill
