Girls Win Cumann na mBunscol Final

Our girls football team won our section of the Cumann na mBunscol on finals day in Markievicz Park on Saturday June 11th. Claiming the title for the first time in five years, the girls defeated a spirited side from St. John’s NS, Ballisodare. Sports Day

‘Olympics 4 Schools’ came to our school this year to run the Sports Day. It was a brilliant Day, The sun even came through the clouds to help make the day even better. There were many activities taking place over the day. Here are some of the pictures from 1st Class of the events of the day.


Be Active ASAP

Children from 1st class and 2nd class are involved in the Be Active ASAP program which is designed to encourage children to participate in fun physical activity with an emphasis on enjoyment, learning and a variety of activity. Active School Week – walk a k after school

Parents, pupils and staff enjoyed walking a k after school on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Taking a well earned break!                  


Active School Week – Irish Dancing

1st and 3rd class had a great time with Siobhan learning some steps or showing of their dancing ability.


Active School Week – combined marathon

A number of older classes attempted to run a combined marathon with each pupil attempting to run at least 1k. The younger children ran/walked a shorter distance.


Active School Week – Cricket

Classes from 1st to 5th had the opportunity to learn some cricket skills with Ingram Jones from Sligo Sport and Recreation. For many it was their first time to try cricket.


Active School Week – Dance

All the classes were paired up to learn a dance with Aoibhín Buckley and enjoyed showing off their dance moves.


Active School Week – Soccer

Junior and Senior Infants worked on their soccer skills with Jim Sheridan, second class worked with Benny O’Loughlin and third class with Paul Keavney. All the classes had a great time.


Active School Week – Chi Running

The children in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th looked at the basic technique of chi running in the hall and then put it into practice on the astro turf.
