Cumann na mBunscol competition

Congratulations to the boys and girls from 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th classes who got through to the semi-finals of the Cumann na mBunscol competition after beating the Gaelscoil at St. Marys. Thanks to Gerry and Ruth for coaching the two teams.


Football – Cumman na mBunsco

Well done to all the children who took part in the first matches of the the Cumman na mBunscol. Both the girls team and the boys team won both their games. A big thank you to Ruth Goodwin and Gerry Kilfeather for the coaching.


GAA mini sevens

Well done to  Zoe Gordon, Orna Murphy, Lisa Kilfeather, Nessa O’Sullivan, Eva White, Áine Harte, Lauren Healy, Susannah Gilligan and Anna McDaniel who represented the school in the mini sevens finals in Collooney on Thursday 12th April. Unfortunately they lost out to Rathcormac in the semi-final.


Orienteering – Second Class

Second Class took part in an orienteering lesson with Ms.James. They worked in pairs to find matching cards under cones around the astro pitch. It was a lot of fun!


GAA

Congratulations to the children that participated in the GAAmigos skills competition last Friday.   Congratulations also to the girls and Ruth who won their two matches today and are through to the mini sevens semi final.   


GoNoodle in Junior Infants

Due to the recent weather we haven’t managed to run our laps each day, instead we have improved our movement skills through GoNoodle.


Cross Country 2017

Well done to the Junior boys team (Cathal Gilligan, James Lynch, Cillian Corkery, Daniel Gillen, Oisín Choo and Bríain Cullinan) and Sarah McDaniel (Junior Girls) who competed in the Connacht Primary Schools Cross Country on Saturday 18th November at St. Brigid’s GAA Club Kiltoom, Roscommon.  Everyone did well against experienced runners on a very tough course. On Friday we practised our throwing, catching and rolling skills with our buddies in 6th class.


Try-a-Tri 6th class

On Thursday 26th October a number of children from 3rd to 6th class took part in a Try-a-Tri event an initiative run by Triathlon Ireland and Sligo Sports and Recreation at Sligo Sports Complex and Cleveragh Regional Park. The event consisted of a 50m swim, a 1,500m cycle and a run of 800m with all the children enjoying the challenge.
