Christmas in Junior Infants

We’ve been very busy in Junior Infants preparing for Christmas. We have a crib and an Advent sack. We have angels flying across the classroom, Christmas photos, Christmas trees and glittery baubles and stockings. Our Aistear theme is Santa land we’ve wrapped presents, decorated the sleigh, dressed up as Santa, loaded the sleigh and checked and made a lot of lists.  


Visit to Strandhill Airport

The pupils and staff of The Glen went on a trip to Strandhill Airport today. The trip was organised as part of our work on an airport theme for the past few weeks. Christmas Cup Tree

The pupils and staff in The Glen have spent the last couple of weeks creating a special Christmas Tree. The tree is made from plastic cups which are glued to circles of corrugated plastic. All of the cups were first covered in different shades of green, using tissue paper and crepe paper. We cut out different sizes of circles of corrugated plastic and glued

Halloween in Junior Infants

On Friday 27th October we dressed up for Halloween. We had lost of interesting costumes but still managed to do our daily run dressed up! We also danced along to the Skeleton Dance.


Happy Halloween from 4th Class

We were all amazed by the amazing costumes all the children of Ransboro N.S. dressed in today. This year the school decided to fund raise for ‘The Mitchell Sisters’, former pupils of our school. Junior Infants Visit the Soft Play Area

On Friday we enjoyed playing in the soft play area. We also played with some of the toys we will be using with the friendship squad when we are staying for the full day.


Junior Infants – First Two Days

We’ve settled into Junior Infants very well and have had a busy few days – playing, touring the school, painting, listening to stories, working and learning some of the routines of ‘big school’.


Donation From Sligo Hospital

The school was delighted to have been selected as one of the recipients of proceeds from the Sligo University Hospital Musical Society’s recent pantomime. The group presented the school with a cheque for €3,000 for the purchase of equipment for The Glen, our autism unit. Staff have begun to purchase some new equipment with this very generous donation and the children are already delighted

2nd Class School Tour

We had a great day on our tour to Kids Kingdom and Forest Park.


Celebration Day Second Class

We really enjoyed our special day on Wednesday 7th June. We walked round the track with the infants and first class first of all. After that we played on the space hoppers and scooters and then the parachutes. For break we had a picnic with the infants followed by soft play and free play.
