Sewing in 4th Class 2018

The children started sewing in 4th Class. First they learned how to ‘backstitch’. Once they had all mastered that skill, they could start on their art piece. They traced a hand print from either their grandparents or parents. They then drew that hand print onto hessian material. QR Codes and Primary Planet

A few days ago we did a quiz using QR Codes on the Primary Planet magazine. We got an iPod each and opened the iNigma app which is a free QR Code Reader. We were handed a page with the QR Codes on it. Beside each QR Code was a blank space to write the answers. We had to answer ten questions in all.

‘Africa’ as Gaeilge- 4th Class Audio

As part of our study of Africa, 4th Class have been learning the Africa-Toto Irish language version of the song. They did really well learning some of the difficult lines and sounded brilliant. Here is a recording of them singing it in class. They loved performing it at assembly! Well done 4th Class!! They also did projects in groups based on -South Africa, -Kenya

5th class have been creating our own bird feeders to provide food for all the birds in this horrible weather!

Drumming in Junior Infants

We enjoyed using our drumming skills this morning. We were a great drumming band.


Junior Infants on Safari

We’ve enjoyed different activities as part of our Aistear topic on Africa.  We’ve been on safari – buying tickets, checking the map and spotting various animals with our binoculars in the jeep and checking them off on our list. We’ve also used different materials to create our own savannahs for African animals.


Road Safety – 2nd Class

We are currently reading a novel called The Hodgeheg by Dick-King Smith. It deals with the topic of road safety. The hedgehogs in the story face many challenges trying to cross the road. We also learned the Safe Cross Code in class and took part in a poster competition. We were asked to design a poster promoting the use of high visibility clothing. Good

Playing Games In Junior Infants

On Friday we enjoyed playing different games in class. We are learning to play independently, take turns, follow the rules, play fairly and win and lose graciously.
