As part of our Aistear topic on shopping we tasted a variety of fruit and vegetables – sugar snap peas, red pepper, grapefruit, kiwi, pineapple and mango. Some children were more reluctant than others but everyone who was in on the different days tried the food on offer that day.
Santa has come to Junior Infants. We used different materials to make our Santas – paint, glue, cotton wool and crepe paper.
We made penguins in Junior Infants. We coloured our shapes in then cut them out and finally glued them together.
We have had great fun in our opticians – making appointments, testing our eyes and of course trying on glasses. We also had a visit from Nuala an optomotrist who talked to us about looking after our eyes and all the different tests she does on eyes.
Sixth class came and showed us how to play some maths games so that we can now play them on our own.
We told the stories in our reading books to the children in fifth class. They asked us lots of questions about our books and wrote some nice comments in our record books.
During the week we did the Skeleton Dance. On Friday we dressed up, visited 6th class to show off our costumes and played some games in the hall.
Our Aistear topic is the home as part of this we painted houses. We talked about the parts of houses and the shape of the different parts.
We made pumpkin monsters for Halloween. First we painted the pumpkins then we drew around templates for the mouths and eyes, cut them out and stuck them onto our pumpkins. Some of us decided to add teeth.
