Christmas in Junior Infants

We’ve been very busy in Junior Infants preparing for Christmas. We have a crib and an Advent sack. We have angels flying across the classroom, Christmas photos, Christmas trees and glittery baubles and stockings. Our Aistear theme is Santa land we’ve wrapped presents, decorated the sleigh, dressed up as Santa, loaded the sleigh and checked and made a lot of lists.  


Train Driver Visits School

In connection with our Aistear topic (travel and in particular the train) a train driver visited us last week. He told us lots about his job and the trains he drives. GoNoodle in Junior Infants

Due to the recent weather we haven’t managed to run our laps each day, instead we have improved our movement skills through GoNoodle.


Cross Country 2017

Well done to the Junior boys team (Cathal Gilligan, James Lynch, Cillian Corkery, Daniel Gillen, Oisín Choo and Bríain Cullinan) and Sarah McDaniel (Junior Girls) who competed in the Connacht Primary Schools Cross Country on Saturday 18th November at St. Brigid’s GAA Club Kiltoom, Roscommon.  Everyone did well against experienced runners on a very tough course. Buddies and Junior Infants

On Friday we practised our throwing, catching and rolling skills with our buddies in 6th class.


Trains and Buddies in Junior Infants

Last week we painted trains then our buddies helped us to stick on different shapes for the wheels, funnels and engines.


Shapes in the Environment

Today we went outside to find examples of different shapes. We found lots of rectangles, squares, circles and semi-circles but not many triangles. There were lots of large shapes on the basketball court that we could all stand on and walk around.


Halloween Art in Junior Infants

During art we painted a pumpkin outline then cut out and stuck on eyes, a nose, a mouth and teeth. We used different shapes for the face parts – triangles, circles, squares, semi- circles and rectangles.


Halloween in Junior Infants

On Friday 27th October we dressed up for Halloween. We had lost of interesting costumes but still managed to do our daily run dressed up! We also danced along to the Skeleton Dance.


Try-a-Tri 6th class

On Thursday 26th October a number of children from 3rd to 6th class took part in a Try-a-Tri event an initiative run by Triathlon Ireland and Sligo Sports and Recreation at Sligo Sports Complex and Cleveragh Regional Park. The event consisted of a 50m swim, a 1,500m cycle and a run of 800m with all the children enjoying the challenge.
