Cumann na mBunscol Champions

Our boys Gaelic football team won the Cumann na mBunscol championship after an exciting final against Rathcormac National School in Markievicz Park last Sunday. The boys reached the final after an extra time one point win against Grange NS in the semi-final. The final itself was a very tight affair with the teams level at half time. Donation From Sligo Hospital

The school was delighted to have been selected as one of the recipients of proceeds from the Sligo University Hospital Musical Society’s recent pantomime. The group presented the school with a cheque for €3,000 for the purchase of equipment for The Glen, our autism unit. Staff have begun to purchase some new equipment with this very generous donation and the children are already delighted

School Awarded 6th Green Flag

For the past two years our Green School Committee have been working diligently and consistently to raise environmental awareness in our school. Our committee was elected in 2015 and comprises of 2 children from classes 3rd to 6th ( two from 2nd in 2016) and 3 adults. Christmas Carol Service

Our annual Christmas Carol Service took place in Ransboro Church on Tuesday December 20th. All pupils from Junior Infants to 6th class took part in the service. The service told the story of the Nativity, interspersed with carols, both traditional and modern. As usual, our Junior Infants were dressed as angels and our Senior Infants were dressed as shepherds. They sang two songs together.

New Soft Play Area

As part of the re-development of the school in 2015, we made provision for a Soft Play area at the rear of the school. Our Literacy Group in The Glen were learning about Horses and we read a story about them. In the story we learned some new vocabulary about horses.
