Spring in Senior Infants!

We have been busy in Senior Infants since we came back to school after the midterm break. We are delighted that Spring is here and the weather is finally getting milder. We planted some nasturtiums, violas and pansies in the classroom and are keeping a close eye on their progress. We have also been enjoying doing Spring art and writing in our Spring booklets.

On Pancake Tuesday the pancakes were a big hit at break time although some of us were disappointed there wasn’t any chocolate spread!    :-)

Fr. McCrann gave us our ashes on Ash Wednesday and we decorated our Sacred Space in the classroom for Lent.

On Friday we celebrated World Book Day and wore in costumes from our favourite books. There was great excitement and many fantastic costumes. Mrs Clarke dressed up as Rapunzel and read the story at assembly. Every class walked along the ‘catwalk’ and modelled their costumes to the whole school. Senior Infants received a very loud applause!

We have begun our new Aistear theme- ‘The Hair Salon’. It is proving to be a very successful busy salon! More photos on that to follow.

On Friday the 14th of March we all dressed up in green for ‘Lá Glas’. It was a lot of fun. At assembly each class did a party piece ‘as Gaeilge’. Senior Infants recited the poem ‘Is Maith liom’. We were busy during the week finishing our St. Patrick’s Day booklets and rainbows. In the hair salon we had a green wig and ‘Irish themed’ hair accessories for the occasion!
